My name is Ms. Vera. I am an experienced, semi-retired math teacher. As a professor of mathematics education, I prepared prospective middle and high school math teachers. I spent a lot of time in local schools, working in different roles, from teacher to math coach, working with students individually and in groups. Over time, I have developed a deep knowledge of mathematics for learning – which is different from just knowing mathematics -, and a keen interest in helping students reach their best potential in math. I am skilled at informally assessing and addressing students’ knowledge gaps while helping with daily home work assignments and test preparation.

I enjoy working with students individually. It gives me great satisfaction when I see them regain their confidence in their ability to think about mathematical relationships and to solve problems.

I tutor in many content areas, from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus, including Geometry, Algebra 1 and 2, Trigonometry, Statistics, etc.
